ABOUT US
THE FUNK never ends
Melbourne (Naarm) – based trio The Platinum Project cruises through the scene with their blend of Neo-Soul and Jazz-infused R&B. Their multi-instrumental presence, whether on stage or in the studio, conjures an intimate, jam-centric experience expressive of bohemian character.
Tied by 10 years of musical friendship, The Platinum Project is the creative brainchild of Reuben Rasmussen, Declan (MASTERBEEF) Mobbs and Espoir (Koffi) Akakpo. Since forming the Band in 2022, they’ve also established notable solo endeavours, with Rasmussen internationally exhibiting 2 side project albums Inner and Collection: 1, and MASTERBEEF is currently developing his debut album.
With strong ties to their local music community, The Platinum Project have partnered with Ballarat’s Billy Cart Hill Studios, collaborating closely with the studio’s lead engineer to live-record new original works. Their recent highlights include performances at KARMABASH Festival, a month’s residency at The Evelyn, headliner at PickenFest, and in late 2025 to host a max capacity “YARD PARTY”. The Platinum Project are consistently performing and recording with industry musicians in the Melbourne jazz scene.
Constant shifting between instruments, musicians moving through the space, spontaneous moments with the audience, and an evolving live arrangement make each performance feel mindful yet chaotic. Inspired by the fusion of Hiatus Kaiyote and the high-energy-funk of Prince, with the soulful intimacy of D’angelo.
The Platinum Project crafts distinctive contemporary soul, grounded in groove, musicality, and improvisation, with a clear commitment to ongoing artistic development.
